La participación de los padres en los programas preescolares [Spanish] [Hispanic Parent Involvement in Early Childhood Programs]
Linda M. Espinosa
This paper digests recent research on the involvement of Hispanic parents in their children's early childhood education. General demographic characteristics of Hispanic families are discussed in brief, as are cultural traits that may impact the family-school relationship. A list of proven strategies for establishing productive parent-school teamwork is provided, including suggestions for staff development, community outreach, and general communication strategies that have been identified as effective by previous early childhood programs. A short reading list is also included.
