Summary:

This instrument was designed to assist preschool teachers in selecting functional skills children may need in making the transition into public schools. Target skills were identified through a survey of special and regular education teachers in Fayette County, Kentucky. The research base and theoretical rationale behind the checklist are described in the user's manual, followed by instructions for administering the checklist. Guidelines for mid-year evaluation, post-test evaluation, and follow-up are also included. The checklist itself covers between 4 and 12 skills in each of the following categories: Classroom Rules, Work Skills, Communication Skills, Social/Behavioral Skills, and Self Management Skills.
