Summary:

This handbook for Montana parents of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with disabilities provides special education and related services information. Part 1 discusses infant and toddler early intervention programs, including services guaranteed by law, eligibility for services, evaluation, diagnosis, the Individualized Family Service Plan, types of services, family involvement, professional roles, family centered services, family support, parents' rights, settling disagreements, transition at age 3, the preschool transition process, and helpful hints for transition. Part 2 describes preschool special education services, including eligibility, student placement, making friends, family involvement, referral for evaluation, evaluation, the child study team, the Individualized Education Programs, extended school year, related services, transportation, program models, qualified personnel, appropriate facilities, kindergarten and first grade transition, and parents' rights. The booklet closes with a program summary, suggestions for parent empowerment, an a list of relevant agencies in Montana.
