The Guide for Choosing Native American Parenting Curricula
Robin R. Wingo, Carol Mertensmeyer
This guide is designed to help professionals working with Native American parents to select culturally sensitive materials and to develop effective programs drawing on the richness of Native American culture. The guide is arranged in three major sections. After a short section defining key terms, a quick reference section provides an abbreviated look at each of the 19 curricula reviewed, followed by a grid system identifying specific issues and topics covered in each curriculum's content. A more elaborate narrative description of each product then follows, including a summary, culturally specific information, reviewers' remarks, and information for ordering the materials. A form is also included for use in recommending additional materials for review.
